What is Reiki?
pronounced ray-key, is a Japanese word for the Universal
Energy which permeates all things. It is also the name that
Japanese Buddhist, Mikao Usui, gave to the system of natural
healing that he developed in 1922. This universal energy
exists all around us and in us, and we are constantly using
and qualifying this energy in everything we do through our
thoughts, spoken word, actions and intention of the heart. The
full expression of ourselves is brimming with this energy.
being attuned to Reiki a person can channel this universal
energy to harmonize and balance the body, mind and spirit of
another or themselves.
Does Reiki Work?
applied through a hands-on healing method to yourself or
another person once you have undergone an attunement With each
Reiki treatment the channeled energy reestablishes and
strengthens the energy pathways in the physical and subtle
bodies thus bringing about a renewed vigour to the many
systems that embody our existence. We are actually given a
“transfusion” of universal energy. Reiki accelerates the
body’s ability to heal itself and makes us more aware of why
we became ill in the first place. It helps us gain clarity and
balance thus enabling our “higher consciousness” or “higher
self” to guide us back to the path of wellness. Giving
yourself regular Reiki treatments speeds up the process of
elimination on all levels.
physical level -- this means the elimination of toxins and
any other substances that are harmful to the body.
Emotionally, there is a purging of unresolved emotional
issues that may be creating “energy leaks” in our system.
our thinking patterns are changed from “crooked” to “straight”
thinking. We release patterns of thought that have created
self-esteem issues, problems with assertion of personal power,
etc, and our minds become more focused, insight becomes more
prominent and we gain clarity of mind.
matters of the Spirit or Spiritually, we are drawn towards
wanting to increase our connection with the Divine. This
becomes a driving force in our lives and we start to live our
lives with a different perspective.
is an Attunement?
into Reiki involves four attunements. Four attunements for the
First Degree or Level of training, one attunement for Second
Degree and one for the Masters Degree. These are performed by
a trained Master/Teacher. The initiation process is a serious
and sacred process for the student which brings about a union
with the Reiki energy through the securing of certain symbols
in the Auric field. It is a ritual of silent invocation and
directing of light in the student’s life. The attunement
process raises the vibratory frequency of the student bringing
about balance and harmony in their life.
a sacred ritual which becomes a turning point, a new way, a
new beginning for the student. It alters the energy flow of
the body and aligns it in such a way as to be able to gain
permanent access to the source of all things. It is really
nothing new just a re-membering.
